The Family Church is a place where newcomers become friends and friends become family.

Pastor Jim McCarty dreamed of planting a church with a
simple goal—to help people live out what it means to be
the family of God. With the help of the initial Dream
Team, 8 families committed to seeing this dream
become a reality, The Family Church began in the
summer of 1993. Their first public service was at the
Seventh Day Adventist Church on NW 23 Boulevard in
Gainesville, Florida.
From the beginning, The Family Church has strived to
be a people committed to love God passionately and
love others purposefully.
Today, the mission continues. We invite you to see for yourself how exciting
church can be when the focus is simple and people are
free to live out 'family' in the Kingdom of God.

Sean Taylor

Sean, together with his wife Kerry, have been long time residents of the Gainesville area and are high school sweethearts with four amazing, adult children.

Since his high school years God has placed a burden on Sean's heart for Gainesville, FL. and since that time he has been praying, fasting, serving and believing for a tremendous move of God in our community. His passion is to be part of community committed to becoming a place where GOD can live. Sean has served in full-time vocational ministry since 1995 and became part of The Family Church in 2000 where he served as worship pastor under our founder, Pastor Jim McCarty. During that time until now he has served as worship pastor, church planter, interim staff director, co-executive pastor, executive pastor, and now lead pastor at TFC.
